Freediving in Tenerife
Freediving goes far beyond a sport. It is a transformative experience that invites us to connect with the mind, body, spirit, and the environment around us.
At Chikabal, we cultivate this connection through mindfulness. We believe in the importance of calm, compassion, and respect—towards oneself and towards nature—as an essential part of the process.
Our approach is to open the mind and heart to explore a new world beneath the surface. Each dive is an opportunity to discover, feel, and connect more deeply.
Freediving, understood as the art of holding your breath in balance between focus and relaxation, teaches us to calm the mind and body. Through conscious breathing, we find the gateway to a state of serenity, presence, and wonder at the marvels of the underwater world.

Why Tenerife?
Freediving in Tenerife is an incomparable experience. The island offers perfect conditions all year round: warm, crystal-clear waters, temperatures ranging between 18°C and 27°C, and exceptional underwater visibility, which can reach up to 30 metres deep even in winter.
Its seabeds are a true spectacle. Beneath the surface, a volcanic landscape full of life unfolds: tropical fish, octopuses, rays, and manta rays coexist in harmony among rocks and black sands. Each dive becomes an opportunity to discover a vibrant, energy-filled ecosystem.
Located in the southwest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife enjoys a mild, sunny climate all year round, with pleasant temperatures between 18°C and 25°C. At the foot of the majestic Teide, Spain’s highest mountain, sea, mountains, and volcanic nature come together, creating the ideal setting to train in freediving and, at the same time, explore the island: beaches, trails, coastal villages, and a rich local culture.
In addition to its natural surroundings, Tenerife has excellent air connections—two international airports—and a wide range of accommodation options to suit all tastes and budgets. All of this makes enjoying a freediving experience in Tenerife accessible, comfortable, and deeply inspiring.
